Quality of Signal to Monitor?

I just bought an ASUS VK266H (25.5 inch) Monitor and I have a couple of issues, first the screen shimmers a bit in some modes and there is detectable motion blur when I move the mouse across a grey surface, also if a window is dragged across the screen the vertical edges of the window tend to ghost or blur. Would replacing the VGA cable with a DVI or HDMI cable help? Or is there a way to fix it through the Video Card software....NVIDIA control panel?|||Definitely give DVI a try. A digital connection tends to be more consistent in image quality.|||I'd say that there is a 93.76% probability that the effects you see are the display's fault.

My daughter's laptop displays a mirror image, split top and bottom, from initial boot and continues to desktop?

She had Vista, installed windows 7 hoping it would cure the problem. She says top and bottom "desktops" are identical including mouse pointer. Also says area to change screen resolution is grayed out. I had her reinstall video card software, no help either.|||it sounds like there is an issue with the hardware. what kind of computer is it/ brand, desktop or laptop.

if it is a desktop you can buy and install a new video card for around 50.00 and see if it is a laptop it's best to contact the maker and get some help. do you have a warranty ? in most cases when i have seen a split desktop that are the same it is usually a video card issue. but you can go online to your computer maker and go through a few steps to clarify the issue. then you can get a good picture of the steps you need to take next. if you have any more questions just contact me.|||Well.. first things first. If it is a hardware problem, and she did a system recovery on it returning it to the same state it was in when she got it.. in other words, if she did a Factory Restore back to Vista, and the split screen stayed, that would mean her problem was hardware based... either bad RAM or the onboard video card.

If she did a System Recovery, and the problem went away, it would mean that the generic video drivers that came with Windows 7 were incompatible with her onboard video, and that either you did not install the Windowz & version of her video drivers, or the manufacturer did not provide them and the Vista drivers were incompatible with the version of Windows 7 that she installed... say 64 bit version of Windows 7 and the 32bit Vista video drivers... or vice versa. So, locating the proper video drivers for that model laptop and video chipset to go with Windows 7 would be a priority.

How to install my video card?

Hi, I have a HP with pentium 4 but the motherboard has a built in video card. I am thinking of buying a new seperate videocard as some games/software run REALLY laggy on my pc, even though my computer runs at 3.0ghz and has 1.5gb ram. My questions are:

a) should I run my new video card software on my PC BEFORE i put in the video card?

b)When i plug in my new videocard (i think i will get one which plugs into the pci-express slot) should i plug my monitor into the new video card straight away before rebooting, or plug it into the built-in videocard(on motherboard) and then install the new card first?

help! PS i am getting a new 22inch monitor if that changes anything...|||After plugging the card in and securing it, plug the monitor into the card itself and install the drivers for the card.

You may want to download them from the manufactures site, as they will be more 'up to date' and usually fix glitches...etc. You can't install the drivers without the card installed, so install them after installing the card physically .

Hope I helped.

EDIT1:

These are some cards that'd more than suffice for current gaming under/around 200ish. I myself, would go with the second.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…|||dude ask a near by computer technition we dont noe much with you com|||First of all, you should check to see if your HP can support a new video card. Some models come with just a built-in video with no PCI-E slots.

If your PC can support another card, then you should plug-in the card and install the drivers first using your on-board video before switching over.|||Find out what slot you have avl.

once you have the card - unplug your computer and then touch it so you dont have any static. install the card, plug in your monitor and then restart the computer. Windows will find the new hardware but do not use the installation cd. Go to the website of the manufacturer of the card and download the newest drivers. (these are free) then run them once they are downloaded. and there you go !

Video card uninstallation?

Hi,

I want to uninstall my video card and put my other one it. Do I uninstall my current video card software first? Or can I uninstall my video card first?

Any suggestions is game :)|||Uninstall the video card drivers first., then remove the video card from pc. connect another card & install the driver for it.|||Uninstall ur Video card 1st...|||Uninstall your video card and install the new one. I would not recommend using the driver cd as the drivers are mostly outdated.

When you install the new card your pc should autodetect the new hardware when you boot up. When you have video then proceed to the manufacturers website to download your latest drivers.

.net 2.0 framework? (ati video card software issues)?

so um, i just got this PC from my father in law, it is an older system, currently running XP, with sp3 installed. i put a ati radeon HD 2600 video card in it, or had him, anyway, coming home, it let me install the driver and it seems to be working ok so far, but it would not install the Catlyst Control Center that comes as a suite from amd/ati , iits saying i need to install or update the .net framework 2.0. i tried to do a lil research but it seems u need to be an IT pro to mess with it, i dont think i need the CCC, but i wld like it as its crazy custimizable. this ppc is to be my #2, my main PC is newer and a better setup, but the exact same video card so i have some exp in the CCC, so ging w/o isnt something i wanna do. anyway, what is the .net 2.0 and how do i go about fixing it.|||You can obtain the framework from my link. There have been some security fixes since it was released, so as soon as you install it, use Windows Update to install any updates.

Is it necessary to un-install old video card drivers before installing a new card?

When you are upgrading or replacing a video card is it necessary to un-install the old video cards software before you remove it and install the new card?|||I would always remove the old drivers pre the install. Then load the drivers that come with the new card. Finally check the website for any upgraded drivers for your new card. Enjoy..|||If you are going from an ATI to an Nividia, or vice versa I'd definitely recommended it, otherwise its not critical.|||nope, not really. wont affect anything.

Video card software drivers-I just put?

a GeForce 8600gt ddr2 1gb video card in my grandsons desktop. I know it's an older weaker card but better than none. Does anyone know the best or easiest website for the drivers or a link for them. It's my old video card and I don't have the cd for it anymore. Thank you so much for any help.|||This page gives you the option to auto detect your video card and you can downlaod the drivers.

You don't have to use the auto detect, you can try to locate yourself.

http://www.geforce.com/Drivers|||First go to nvidia.

2)go to:Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products.(you must have mozila firefox or internet explorer)

3)You must have JAVA to scan your system.

4)It will display the results, with the latest driver for your graphic card.(simply agree and then download it)!|||The drivers on the CD are probably outdated...

Problems with home theater, video cards.we bought a 50" panasonic viera tv to use and our monitor?

we watch tv through our computer. we bought the ati radeon 5670 after doing some research. we plugged a dvi to hdmi cable inbetween them and nothing happened. we installed the video card software using our old video card and also tried a hdmi to hdmi cable and nothing works.

my only idea is our new video card doesn't work or there is some problem that i don't understand like the video card resolution is too much for the tv (which is 720P)|||Sounds to me like your computer originally has integrated graphics, but you did not disable it. While your onboard graphics is active, your computer will NOT be able to recognize the new HD5670 video card.

You need to boot into BIOS and disable your onboard integrated graphics there. Only then will your HD5670 become active and you can use it.|||I'm surprised that a TV that big is only 720p. Normally they are 1080p. The video card and TV should communicate and pick a resolution for you, but if not, be sure the video is set to 1366x720 for a 720p TV. If the video card does not support 1366x720, you will have to replace it or the TV.

Try using the win98 drivers. It MIGHT work. This is a very old video card (win95 era). You are probably better off not using it or getting a new one since you have winxp.

I need help with video card software settings right now?

I installed a new driver, and all of a sudden my games have borders on them, I want them to be the size of my screen, not the size of the game res border by my real computer res. how I fix this? I'd show you an example but when ever I screenshot it only screenshots within the black borders. so theres about a inch on each side of black screen constraining my game, which looks terrible someone please help, oh this is important can't believe I didn't add this, this took effect as soon as I installed a new graphics driver, it makes me mad.|||Go to your monitor. Find the controls. Make the picture smaller both horizontally and vertically using the size controls. (How to do it depends on the monitor - but it's in the book that came with the monitor.) It's not a computer setting, it's a monitor control.

My 3d games don't work ! where to download direct X video card software?

I Need Help On My Video Card Software?

yes i need help and i run on a Emachine T3256 , 800mb RAM , Its Also A AMD Athlon xp .I have bought a video card "ATI RADEON 3DForce 3450-dvi" and the installation cd that came with it has an error on my pc , when i try to download the display driver it says "no compatible hardware/software found"Also I found a notice on the download page "note: This driver is provided as is and is not supported by AMD. It has not completed full AMD testing, and is only recommended for users experiencing the particular issue described above." so im like wtf , please can someone help me|||maybe you need a video card driver that is compatible with your OS.|||Well it might be your os you are running. Since you didn't specify that it's hard to tell. But you said that you have 800mb of ram. If you use windows I think the best you can get with 800mb is xp. So Idk, might be your os is to old for the card. What you wrote was sorta confusing. Maybe you could revise and repost? Anyway if there is a driver thats not supported by the company, but if it will work, I'm guessing why not give it a try? Hope this helps :)

PNY video card software installation disk?

I don't have it. I Had to completely wipe my computer, and I have to reinstall everything. But I don't have the disk. What do I do?|||Either Windows will find the drivers for it;

or

Just go to PNY's website for the latest drivers for your card because the ones on the disk are more than likely outdated anyways.|||Go to PNY's site and look for driver downloads. You need the driver for your card for your version of Windows.

Change video card software?

When I viewed my properties of my computer the video card is Nividia Geforce 5500. So I can change the software to 7800?

Another Question: can a computer work without video card?|||no if you change the software of your card it might not work,

ya a computer can run without a card by the help of onboard graphix.|||? 1 no

? 2 no|||Video cards are hardware. Your computer has a Geforce 5500 that is the model of the card in your computer. 7800 is a different type of video card so changing the software will have no effect on the hardware.

Computers do not work without a video card.|||Simply put no. The cards are like car models. The 5500 is an older model, the 7800 card is more current. The software, I.E. drivers and control panel will not be compatable between the two. For your second question. Yes your computer will work, but obviously you will not be able to see what's happening...Unless you have some sort of remote desktop setup.|||If you buy a Geforce 7800 Video Card. A computer can run without a PCI or AGP video card. It has to be integrated into the motherboard. (Called On-board video) It'll probably look like the same adaptor that you plug your monitor into now. It would be up by where the USB and mouse and LAN cable plug in.|||The drivers for those 2 cards are incompatable. If you want to increase the performance of your currant card download the latest display drivers for the 5500 from the Nvidia website. There is also free overclocking software for graphics cards but using them will void any warranty (if your card still has one)

If your PC has an onboard graphics chip then you do not need a graphics card.|||If you'r are gone mad try out that and a computer without a Graphics card it is waste .

If i download video card software do i have to have the video card y use it?

please answer quickly i need this to play combat arms!|||You pretty much need the video card because the software was designed for that specific card. If you try to install the driver into your system, you can cause serious damage to your system or your current graphics card that can be beyond repair.|||ya duh, it wont install without the right card.

Where to download video card software for widescreen?

i just bought a 22' widescreen lcd monitor, but the image is wideer than its supposed to. I have a Nvida card, where would i go online to download the software?

thanks|||"the software"?

check nividas website if they made your videocard

its likly you have screen resolution settings for widescreen in your display propeties

I accidentally uninstalled my ATI video card software. How can I reverse the damage?

I'm working on an IBM think pad with windows and I can't run much without the software. Please help!|||First of all find out what video card you have in your laptop. You may have to visit the IBM website and search the model number of your laptop for the specs. Once you have the model of the video card go to this ATI website: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

and download the software (drivers) for the video card installed in your laptop.|||Reboot and your computer should find the card and take it from there|||Which software do you think is lost or corrupted?

Do you mean you've lost the drivers for the proper video card? If so, you can just go the the site of the proper card's manufacturer and down load the driver from there.|||I'm presuming by software you're referring to the drivers for your video card?

If that's the case, I imagine the drivers are still there somewhere and just need to be reloaded. Try going to Control Panel, and then Add/Remove hardware, and hopefully it should detect your card and reload the drivers.

If that doesn't work than you'll have to get the drivers/software either from the CD that came with the card or from here:

Picture quality problem when connecting video to TV with S-Video TV out?

When I hook up my computer to the TV (just a regular TV & I use an S-video cable) obviously it won't be a good way to read text...but I assumed that watching a DVD this way would similar to the quality of just using a standard DVD player...

For me, this is not the case...the picture is blurry, the colors look terrible, the picture is blocky I guess I'd call it...

Also in dark areas the shades of gray are not displayed well....they aren't blended with the light area...its either...you can acutally see the a line separating the light and dark areas...

I've adjusted the color (tone and saturation), brightness, contrast on my TV but no matter how it is set it still looks terrible...

Is there some trick to getting the video to look right on a TV? I've tried adjusting the gamma manually and using an automatic gamma setup that is on the video card software...the automatic is way too dark (probably because it sets my TV at the gamma of a PC monitor....)

If anyone has tips I'd appreciate it.|||Try vlc media player to watch it. It has an upconversion that should help. BTW it also upconverts from standard dvd to near hd quality, kinda.

What is video card?Software or Hardware? If software then how can I download it?

hardware.|||Video Card is a hardware and not software, but it needs a software to run.|||A video card is a piece of hardware. The operating system of your computer needs software to be able to use it. This software is called a video driver.

You can use the video driver that comes with your operating system or download one from the manufacturer of your video card.|||A video card is hardware. It should already be inside your computer. Video cards need software called drivers to allow the computer to talk to the video card. That is something that comes in the box with the video card, or you can download it from the manufacturer.|||its hardware, you have to go to a store and buy it, no way in the world you could download it. Try a computer store and please never buy any computer product from walmart! they never work lol|||Think about it. What does "card" imply? The software is called a "driver".|||Seems like you are 'amature' in computer.

A video card is a hardware that in your motherboard, which is used to display a video graphic on your monitor/screen.

This video device need a driver(software) to operate properly, normally the software will come together during purchasing your PC.

Actually, basiclly got two type of video card, one is built in in your motherboard(intergrated) and another one is a separated card which installed in your PCI/AGP slot.

Normally PCI/AGP video card got greater performance than intergrated one.

Why wont my video card software recognize the hardware or install the drivers?

I bought a new GeForce 220GT and I installed in my computer. The computer gets stuck on the Windows loading screen, after about 15 mins it goes into my desktop. When I put in the CD that came with it the software says no new drivers found, altho windows does the whole "found new hardware" and installs default drivers. The software never finds the hardware and it always takes 10-15 mins for the computer to boot into my desktop. I have tried a lot of stuff such as, disabling onchip vga, testing the video card with another computer (it works fine), put in my old video card (radaeon x1900 series which also works fine), with all that being said im pretty stuck. Its not the power supply because the card need 350 min and mine outputs 400watts. Its not the slot because my other video card works just fine in it. Its not the video card cause it works fine in another computer. Does anyone have any idea!? if you need specifics please let me know!|||Sometimes the driver from the CD does not work well from the video card. Try to go on nvidias website and download it from there. Because you know its updated and most likely it will work. Yeah, im sorry...those cheap bastard companies these days...|||it could be the power supply. it needs 350w min on a computer that's pretty bare.
